The RaD Car Hire Process
Making a Reservation
Making a rental car reservation with RaD Car Hire Australia is easy. Simply choose the dates you would like to hire a car for, enter these in our online booking form, email us a quote request, or call one of our friendly Queensland teams. Our easy online booking process lets you choose where (Brisbane, Gold Coast, or Sunshine Coast) and when you rent. Select the class of rental car that best suits your hire requirements and budget. You can also email any of our three Queensland branches or call our team – they'll look after your car hire needs.
Our Rental Vehicles
RaD Car Hire Australia offers many vehicle categories across our three airport locations. Availability varies slightly by branch, but you'll find everything from small hatchbacks for city runs to sedans, SUVs, and people movers for family holidays. We recommend booking slightly larger than you think you'll need for comfort on Queensland roads – perfect for beach gear, surfboards, or theme park luggage.
Driver's Licence
Once you've chosen RaD Car Hire, you'll enter your licence details in the online booking form and submit a copy of your licence during the online check-in process. This is standard across all car rental companies to verify your identity, age, and valid driving status. No driver's licence = no rental car. RaD allows free additional drivers – just add them at pick-up!
Credit Card Security
You'll need a credit card for security. A bond (typically between $200 - $500) will be held if a debit card is used – this is at their discretion. The full payment for the hire will be charged 48-24 hours prior to your collection day. Review the Rental Agreement
At pick-up, always review your rental agreement and understand the terms. It's your responsibility to check for existing damage. RaD completes a vehicle condition report (body sheet) at every Queensland branch to avoid disputes on return. We recommend you inspect the vehicle before driving away for your peace of mind.
Choose Vehicle Insurance That Suits You
All rentals include basic insurance (typically $3,200 excess). Reduce this with daily excess reduction options – most customers choose this for peace of mind, especially when parking overnight or exploring hinterland roads. Don't risk a high excess for damage you didn't cause.
Changes During Your Rental Car Hire
Notify your branch ASAP if anything changes: breakdowns, damage, accidents, or extension requests. Extensions aren't guaranteed during peak seasons, but we'll try our best. A different vehicle may be needed. Fines, tolls, or infringement fees follow legal requirements, plus a $25 admin fee if charged to your card.
Rental Car Fuel
All RaD vehicles start full of fuel – no stressful calculations or first-stop fuel runs. Return full (service stations within 5km of every Queensland branch). We offer a refuelling service if needed ($30 admin + fuel cost).
Return of Your Rental Vehicle
When returning your rental vehicle, please ensure it is in a tidy state, the same as when you collected it. Please ensure the rental car is full of fuel. Additional charges may apply if the rental car is returned low on fuel. If any damage has occurred whilst in your care, please notify the rental car agent at this point in time. The vehicle will be checked in with you, and the rental agreement finalised. If you return the vehicle outside of office hours or to another location where the vehicle cannot be checked in until the following day, or it has been collected, it will be deemed to be your responsibility until the branch re-opens and the rental agreement is finalised.
